  1. Amber Templeton says:

    Dear Martial Arts School Owner,

Hello, my name is Amber and I am a event specialist with the national children’s charity Hopeful Tomorrow. Hopeful Tomorrow was created to provide a positive mentor and a physically creative outlet for our nation’s at-risk youth. The reason I am contacting you is because our organization is actively seeking an affiliate studio to work with us in your area, and after careful determination I have found that your business reaches our criteria for a potential affiliate studio. Hopeful Tomorrow provides scholarships for underprivileged youth to participate in programs such as your own. Our scholarship’s pay $225 per quarter (three months tuition or $75 per month per child).

If you have thought about becoming more involved in the community, or simply would like to offer a helping hand to some of your current or recently departed students whom are struggling financially then Hopeful Tomorrow is a viable option for your studio. You may be asking yourself: Where does this money come from? All of Hopeful Tomorrow’s scholarship funds are raised by the specific community that the children utilizing the scholarships live in. We take a three step approach towards raising these funds.

    1. All participating studios host some type of fundraiser (examples include: Kick-a-thon, Break-a-thon, Spar-a-thon, Kata-a-thon, Open Houses etc.), which our charity provides all materials for and ships to you. You may have hosted other fundraisers in the past for charities such as St. Judes or Breast Cancer Awareness, but when you do a fundraiser with Hopeful Tomorrow you actually get to see those dollars work at your own studio. We operate on an 80% / 20% basis. 80% of the funds raised by your studio will be paid directly back to you in the form of scholarship tuition for an at-risk child. The remaining 20% of the funds is retained by Hopeful Tomorrow in order to keep our non-profit up and running. So, for instance, if your studio chose to host a Kick-a-thon for the charity and raised $1,000 then $800 would go into your studio’s scholarship account to be used at your discretion. Hopeful Tomorrow also works towards getting your event (and indirectly, your business) news coverage by releasing press releases to your local media outlets promoting the event.

    2. Hopeful Tomorrow applies for community grants using our 501c3 status from Wal-Mart and Target for each and every one of our affilate studios. These grants range anywhere from $500 to $3,000. Although we can never guarantee that we will be able to obtain these for you, our staff is very experienced and dedicated at landing them.

    3. Hopeful Tomorrow will enable other local businesses that wish to help the local children to make a tax deductible donation to the charity, and that money will also be allocated for use at your studio. This is called our “Corporate Contributions Pack” It is a pre-typed letter that can be delivered to local businesses requesting a donation to the charity. This requires a little work on your end (it can also be performed by a staff member or a dedicated parent) but can be very beneficial.

Hopeful Tomorrow was created to help as many children as possible. We are actively searching for schools to work with us in every community across America. Once we have a studio working with us in a community, we stop looking. That way our schools will not be competing against one another for the same corporate funding. Affiliate studios also receive other benefits such as: being allowed access to schools which would normally be unavailable to them, and being recognized as strong, upstanding members of their local community.

I encourage you to look into our program and see if it would be a fit for your studio. Please visit our website at http://www.hopefultomorrow.org, the FAQ section is particularly helpful. If you would like to speak with other studio owners who have worked with us and currently have children on scholarship with Hopeful Tomorrow you can view the contact information for our Advisory Council here. If you would like to speak with me in person please feel free to contact me toll free at 888.549.0715. The sign up process is very quick and easy. I hope to hear back from you in the future. Thank you for your time and have a great day.
